MARVIN's - 14th and you MONDAY NIGHT

Yooooooo

I didn't know people party on a MONDAY NIGHT in DC

My girl hits me up and said "I want to hang out" on a monday.

We start off at Laughing Tavern (think I did a review on this..i'll probably edit that once I find out) where she treats me to some decent 3$ happy hour drinks and wings (yes the wings were 3 dollars too).

Afterward we head up to 14th and U to Marvins

We got there before the NIGHT crowd arrived. We sat in the bottom (the restaurant part), ordered ribs, collards and fried chicken and waffles

THEY WERE ALL DELICIOUS..OMG...

They had already been playing Michael Jackson upstairs. After we ate, we headed up there

It was alot of people there already..jamming to MJ and getting their dance on

An hour later the place was packed to CAPACITY. People were gettin they jam on on the dancefloor to MJ, sweating bullets and having a ball.

My girl migrated to the outside patio..it was too hot and crowded inside for her but she was still chilling

Apparently its called OLD SCHOOL MONDAYs

I would LOVE to return if Im not too tired from hanging on Sunday

OH...Tonite I will be at PARK for Happy Hour if anyone will be in the building..HOLLA

DC People hate Metro Delays and Problems

Read up on it here on DC FAB

DC FAB ENOUGH IS ENOUGH METRO

First the tragic collision that has left nine DMVers dead and over 70 injured on the Red line, followed by a rush-hour jumper who was struck and killed on the Red line…immediately followed by a man in a wheelchair who “rolled off of the track” earlier today. I’m sorry WMATA, but enough is enough.

Many people are looking for someone to blame: the city, an agency, the government?

Point your fingers if you must but I’m sick of the accidents, especially the preventable ones (I’m sure someone knew those trains were old), I’m sick of the delays (How reliable is your train tracking system, honestly! Isn’t the system 33 years old?! Older than me! You’ve got to be kidding.) and I’m especially sick of the elevator outages that have been out for over a year…y’all know y’all ain’t right.

For a system that millions of DMVers use every day to go in and out of D.C. and the surrounding areas, I think we deserve better…more!

I ride the MARC train (don’t even get me started on that mess) and the metro daily and I’m looking for y’all to step up. If they can’t step up by themselves, Mayor Fenty, let’s earmark some funds to the renovation of our public transit system. Don’t be afraid to call on Governor O’Malley and Governor Kaine. I’m sure y’all are sick of it too, having to answer to constituents who have to deal with a failed public transit system.

If I hear about one more Metro accident I think I’ll want to throw myself in front of a train (<— total and complete joke for emphasis).

Ooohs and Aaaahs Restaurant....10th and U Street

Yesterday I decided to try Ooohs and Aaahs Soul food Restaurant after reading a review in the City Paper for Best Restaraunts

Its located on 10th and U street and is so small you may miss it.

We walk it the narrow downstairs and you can see the stove to the left. We get greeted by the fellas including the chef and owner, Chef Abbot. Its not the prettiest place to eat, it can turn off some bougie ass buppie doesn't know how these lil spots can be the best you ever had.

I order the short rips, collards and Mac and cheese. BF Orders the blackened catfish, rice w gravy and Cabbage. We also get cornbread. I ask for a sweet tea to drink while I wait.

Now..if yall like real southern sweet tea like I do..YOU'LL LOVE THEIR TEA

Super sweet, no lemon, brewed very well.

We wait like 15 minutes while we watch them blacken the catfish. Also two juicy ass burgers were cooking..my mouth was watering.

While I was waiting, I decided to turn around and read their article they now have on a plaque that was in Hip Hop Weekly. I noticed it said that this spot is open from 12 am to 5 am for the hungry, drunk club crowd. AWESOME. Their late nite menu includes shrimp and grits, fish and grits, turkey sausage, eggs and grits and chicken and waffles to name a few.

The prices for a dinner are about 13 - 16 dollars depending on what you get. They didnt have the prices listed for breakfast.

They do have some dining upstairs, but I didn't get to check it out. By then my stomach was touching my back and I couldn't wait to devour my food.

We finally get our food (okay it aint take that long) and hurry back to the crib to chow down.

let me tell you *pause to savor the thought of the food*

GOOD GAWD I have a new favorite

even though I ordered the ribs, I ate have my BFs Blackened FISH..It was super well seasoned, juicy and light and flakey

The rice was good, cabbage, greens taste like home, mac and cheese cheesy and good..>EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS. Worth the wait. Next time im getting the fish

OH and the portions are very HEALTHY..I had some for dinner and am going to finish the rest for lunch today

So stop by whether you leaving the club, or just in the area and want some soul food.

OOHS AND AAAAHS..10th and U street
